Ripped jeans and leather feels..

Happy Tuesday everyone, we did it - we got over the Monday blues- wayyhayy!

I had such an amazing response to my last post, I was so nervous about posting it to be honest, as it has literally nothing to do with fashion or beauty and, after all, that is what you lot look forward too on Emma Jane, not me rambling on about my personal life - but you guys sent me some lovely messages about it and it really does mean the world to me that you, firstly, took the time to read it, but secondly, took the time to message me about it too.

I hope you all had a good weekend whatever you got up to, for once mine wasn't filled with cocktails and dancing with my bestie, but instead it was filled to the brim with endless cups of tea and laughter with all the fam bam.
Before Christmas, my health wasn't the best, but typical me; everything in my life was in the fast lane as I wanted to do as much as possible and as the saying goes - I wanted everything done yesterday! It wasn't until last Monday I realised how much I really needed to slow down and well, basically chill out for a while and look after myself, after all this is supposed to be my 'down time'.
So I challenged myself to sit in for at least one month, I'm hoping I can do it longer to be honest, but hey, if you know me then you know one weekend is long enough never mind more than a month... so here's hoping!

Anyway, enough of the rambling that I said I wasn't going to do anymore and back to today's post... this bomb ass jacket!!
Myself and my good friend Margiie were in Belfast two weeks ago for afternoon tea in the Europa Hotel (by the way, one of the best afternoon teas I've ever had - sha-mazz-ing!) and afterwards we headed on into the city centre for a little window shopping - as usual - and apart from falling in love with just about every single thing in Stradivarius, we were walking past Next and this jacket immediately caught our attention. I tried the nearest size to me on, but it was just a little bit too big, I personally like a nice tight fitting jacket. The sizing is 100%, so if you like it just normal/true to size fit then go for your usual size, but I personally like it that bit tighter, so I opted for a size smaller than I usually would be in Next.

As we all know from my constant snapchatting (emmajanemooney), one of the trends that I am in LOVE with at the minute is anything with embroidered detailing on it, love love love it. It was a huge trend last season and by the looks of things (to my utter delight) - it ain't moving anywhere honey!
The studded detail on the lapels add that extra detail, giving it a more 'rock chick' vibe, rather than just a usual 'girly' embroidered jacket with the flower detail. And for £78... it is total PU leather jacket goals!

I had only planned on buying the jacket when I went online, but hey... girls you know the drill - something pops up and you're like "hmmm, that really would go well with whats in my basket wouldn't it?" Then you spot that its cheaper than the item already in your basket,  and so by that point you've already managed to convince yourself that you're actually getting a complete bargain, so you pop it in the basket too and then this happens again, right up until you have to control yourself and think,  "Ok, damn, I actually need to eat this week, so we will stop it right there, Emma." Don't even try to say that you haven't been there, I know you all have.

But when these jeans arrived, I was so glad I had that urge to add them into my basket because they fitted like a dream. I usually never buy jeans from anywhere else other than, yeah you guessed it, River Island, because they sell long length jeans, for one, and because they just always fit like a glove - no matter what style you get in them. I loved the style of these; the different patches of denim, trendy ripped knees, pockets at the bum, and the comfortable high-waisted fit - I literally loved them as soon as I pulled them on, and they aren't really my usual style - I'm more of a clean cut jean kinda gal- but I'm totally converted!

I had originally picked a pair of black ankle boots to style with this look, along with a thick black belt and bold red lip, but before I put it on, I noticed the flower on the arm was the exact same shade as my new fabulous glittery Misguided boots, and so I opted to wear them and a nude lip to create an overall 'softer' and more 'girlier' look, instead of becoming a total rock chick.

So yeah, pretty much I will be living in this entire outfit for the foreseeable future, just because I love it so much haha.
Have a good week girlies, and remember my competition on my Facebook page is ending this Friday, so head on over and make sure you enter, if you're not in you can't win!

Round up and new beginnings..

I feel like I haven't even said Happy New Year to you all yet, so better late than never - Happy New Year!

Being late with this post pretty much sums up my 2016. For someone who is usually the most organised OCD person ever, this year has been really laid back for me, in both my work and personal life.

In my job, I'm so lucky that my boss is amazing and gives me free rein of my hours - I get to decide when I work and don't, and usually I try to work a lot between April to September as it is obviously the busiest season, but also so I can enjoy my months off in the winter knowing that I have truly worked hard to earn them. During the two previous years, I usually over-worked and never had any time to myself, or to spend with the people I want to the most, and then last year I felt like I didn't work as much as I usually do. So this year, I am going to make sure that I give it my all and put everything I have into my work life...without going too far - all about that work/life balance eh?

Saying that, it's the time of the year where we all set goals and resolutions for the year ahead - losing/gaining weight, getting fitter, saving money or even sometimes all of the above! But, usually they are already broken by now and we give up, well I know I usually do!
This year I'm not going to set any certain goals for myself as such; I'm just going to work harder in my work - that being my full time job, my blogging and make up.

Another thing that I'm going to work towards is spending more time with my family and friends, rather than wasting it away on working too hard, or with certain people that well, basically don't deserve it. We all need to appreciate what we have and love - every minute of it - because we all know that, in a blink of an eye, everything can change, for the better or the worse.

A lot happened this year in my personal life that set me back for a good number of months, which is probably one of the reasons my work suffered as well. All I wanted to do was bury it at the back of my head, have a drink and dance and think it would go away on its own, but it didn't. To a lot of people, I come across as the most confident person ever, but I'm really not; I am the same as every other 20-something year old girl. I am constantly finding flaws in everything I do - what I wear, how other people see me, how I act and the way I look. For a long time, I was in this rut and couldn't get out of it, constantly feeling like I was worth nothing to some people. But finally, over the past few months (without sounding cheesy as hell) I've finally started to feel like the old me again and realise that I am worth more than what I thought I was. That is 100% down to my family and friends. I obviously thought the world of them anyway, but the past few months I have learned to appreciate them so much more for every single little thing they do for me. When I didn't feel like doing anything except lie in self pity and eat, they were there with the tissues and takeaways, and when I finally got my ass up and moved on, they were right there beside me motivating me all the way.

You have to go through some hard times to come out shinning at the other end and I feel that was 100% me. I know people will say to me it was only a break-up, but it really did affect me and I am only really noticing now that I am back to the 'old me', and how much I relied on my family and friends to carry me through it. I know people have been through much worse than me this year and I'm not saying my life is horrible at all, I had and have so much to be thankful for this year too and I did achieve so much as well, but ... yeah, basically 2016 wasn't my best year, and I'm not saying that 2017 is going to be either, but I am putting 2016 and all the negativity that came with it behind me and I am going to give 2017 a damn good go - positivity really is the way forward!

My circle of friends hasn't changed much in the past 10 years and I really wouldn't have it any other way, maybe Sex and the City is right you know; "Maybe our girlfriends are our soulmates and men are just people to have fun with".

Hopefully 2017 is your year too, go get it!

London Baby..

Hey guys!

WOW.. What a weekend, can we rewind please?!

If you know me well enough or even just follow me in-fact you will know my love for London, legit every time I visit this city I fall in love even more. I don't know what it is that hooks me on it, whether its the buzz of the city, the different types of food around every corner, the underground, the fact nobody judges you or just the landmarks? Its everything, I just love it!

Despite the amount of times I've been to London, it has never been with my bestie! So for her birthday in June, my sister and I got her the trip. To be honest, with the amount of running about we do especially over Christmas time we sort of forgot until about three weeks before! Of course we had to start planning to see all the usual sights such as the Embankment, The Eye, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and all the shops not to mention!

We stayed at the amazing The Grand @ Trafalgar Square

Such an amazing location, within a stones throw away from the tube station at Trafalgar Square it was so handy for us as we used the underground so much, and when we fancied walking it was so close to everywhere we wanted to go, and it helps that the square is so beautiful itself!

After grabbing food and of course cocktails in a little Italian, we couldn't wait to get exploring so we headed straight to the Embankment to see as much as we could, onto The Eye to get the best view! Joanne is super scared of heights but she had to see it, so the brave little soul she is she battled on and even managed to smile for a picture too!

After wondering about the rest of the evening we headed home to get changed for dinner and drinks but stopped off for some macaroons on the way as we couldn't walk past, they looked too good!

We jumped in a taxi and after saying we wanted to head to Soho we were recommended this little restaurant for us, where it serves the best risotto you will ever taste in your life- my mouth is watering as I type this, it was so yummy! We decided we wanted bit of fun, well I did so i dragged Joanne (not much persuasion was needed now to be honest!) to the Hippodrome Casino and if you had of seen from my snaps we managed to sip over the tastiest pornstar martins until 4.30am. Completely unaware of the time we were just having so much fun, but we still knew we had a long day ahead of us on Saturday, so decided to call it a day/night and grab a chip on the way home- perfect ending to any night out eh? ha

Bottled water on the floor of your hotel, who knew this could save lives? Literally did exactly that for me and Joanne on Saturday morning|, or should I say afternoon by the time we were up showered and ready to head out exploring again! As I said the evening before we stopped to get macaroons in the cutest cafĂ© in Trafalgar Square and we noticed they done afternoon tea so we decided to head back in there as it looked so yummy and afternoon tea was exactly what we needed to make us feel some what human again!

Then what was probably the highlight of the trip for me we headed to the Westfeild Shopping Centre to the brand spanking new Miss Guided store. I know I completely polluted snapchat with the store but I couldn't not show you guys it in real life, it was so sassy-typical Miss Guided! If you could imagine what it was like from my snaps, it was ten times that in real life I kid you not! The details of all the little things were what made it, and of course the massive monster truck that was slap bang in the middle of the store!

I picked up a few pieces and my favourite item was the sparkly maroon ankle boots and loads of you guys screens hotted and asked me what they fitted like. Usually I find Miss Guided shoes sizes slightly smaller than what I would be normally but they fit like a glove and I love that they are skin tight around my ankle, such a yeezey feel to them! Shop them here
We did head into basically every other store in the shopping centre but none other got my attention like that, if you are in London shopping, love Miss Guided and have a few spare hours-pop on the tube and check it out you really wont be disappointed.

We headed out on Saturday night to a nightclub so decided to dress up, I have had this outfit for around 3 months but have never worn it so thought it was very Londonish (if thats an actual thing?! ha) So after a couple of outfit choices we finally went with this, after all you can't really beat black can you? My pony tail, as much as I would love it to be real just isn't! Its from BeautyWorks and its only £24.99. You can buy them here, so easy to put in and its something different for a night out.
Grab my outfit here

Joannes fabulousss dress is limited edition by River Island, and is sold out everywhere how typical! But I will keep my eye and see if I can grab it somewhere for you lot as so many people have been asking about it! And yip, her pony tail is all real the wee rascal!

On our final day we had forgot all about seeing Buckingham Palace, and our hotel was just at the start of The Mall so thats where we headed. The walk up The Mall is probably my favourite bit. I'm not sure why I just love the vibe you get from and you can see how beautiful it is from far away and up close.

Finishing our final hours off by going to Harrods and wishing we had a million pounds in our bank accounts to buy all the amazing things we saw, and yes including that huge bear too!
Finally on our way back we stopped off to see Piccadilly Circus at dusk- how perfect!

I had the best weekend away with my girl, we done nothing but laugh from start to finish and think it was exactly what we both needed- a girly weekend away! London, you were fabulous, until next time!
